Hydrogen Bromide (HBr)
Hydrogen Bromide is used in many fields such as pharmaceutics, chemicals, electronics, metallurgy, mining, petroleum, the polymer industry and many more. It is used to manufacture alkyl bromides, it is also used as a reducing agent or as a catalyst for alkylation and oxidation reactions.
Hydrogen Bromide effects on health
Hydrogen Bromide (HBr) is a colourless gas with an irritating odor. When there is moisture in the air, the gas then becomes smoking. On a short time exposure, hydrogen bromide is irritating and corrosive to the skin, eyes and respiratory tract. Over a long time or chronic exposure, there is a link between hydrogen bromide and the risk of laryngeal cancer.
